Third Grade Learning Programs:

Structured Language Basics:

This is our phonics program. It is also our English and grammar. There are many components to this scripted program but they all work in conjunction to make your student and better reader and writer. SLB is structured to be taught daily. As 3rd graders we do the components that are specific to our standards and any supporting skills that may be missing or need improvement.

Houghton Mifflin Harcourt Oklahoma Math is set up to teach the 3rd grade Oklahoma standards. It is a no-frills program and as such we rarely even skip a single page. Every lesson builds on knowledge gained in previous years and is instrumental to being ready for the 4th grade program. This program has a workbook and online component. We will be utilizing both for new learning as well as review throughout the year.

Scholastic StoryWorks:

This series of monthly magazines covers our reading standards and a large section of writing. The monthly reading selections are usually very interesting to the students. Scholastic has a wonderful online platform which will be used both in the classroom and from home if needed.

Scholastic SuperScience:

Our grade level uses another scholastic magazine and online program titled SuperScience. This curriculum is engaging, exciting, and easy to use for the students. Your child will quickly become familiar with how to access the online portion of SuperScience through the Clever portal. We will hand out the magazine once a month.

Social Studies:

We have a new curriculum this year for social studies. It is called My World Interactive. This program integrates technology with a student text that each child will have. It is based on the Oklahoma Standards for third grade. It has hands on maps, videos, leveled reading, along with sheets to answer questions related to the reading and learning we will do together. Some of the work and tests for this program will be paper/pencil and some will be online. Each class will have a login to use to access the online materials and work.
